Born in Obermeisa at Meichen 1880, died in Traunstein 1961. He was a student of L. Pohle, C. Bantzer and G.Kuehl at the Dresden Fine Art Academy. Studied art also in Berlin, Paris and Munich. Important impressionist from the Dresden School. He was an art professor at the Malsaal academy in the period between 1935-45. Unfortunately, many of his paintings have been destroyed during the bombing of Dresden in World War 2. His studio was destroyed in February 1945. His paintings can be found in the Dresden City Museum.

Dietze visited Macedonia in the period 1916-1918 in the Skopje region. He created several oils, watercolors and etchings with Macedonian motives at that time. For example: oil on canvas called “A view at the Skopje viaduct” (sold by the auction house Schmidt, Dresden on 10-12-2005 today property of the author), and watercolor called “a Harem near Uskub” (sold via auction house Van Ham, Cologne on 3-08-2004), Watercolor “Uskub 1917” with the view of the old bazaar (property of the author).
