Born in 27th May 1906 in Fafe, Portugal, died on 1st May 1987 in Heidelberg. He was a painter, illustrator and graphic artist of classic modernism. His style was characterized with realistic scenes of the city life with a touch of a fantasy. He was a son of a factory director and he grew up in Lorrach and Karlsruhe. Studied art at the Baden State Art School between 1922-29 as a pupil of Georg Scholz, Karl Hubbach and William Schnarrenberger . Since 1929 he attended the State School of Fine Art in Berlin. In 1935 he won the prestigious Roman Prize. His works can be found in the museums in Berlin and Stuttgart.
Hans Fischer-Schuppach visited Macedonia during the World War Two years. He mainly stayed in the Aegean Macedonia. One example of his work was the watercolor entitled “Saloniki 1943” sold by the auction house Arno Winterberg, Heidelberg Germany, on 15th October 1994 (lot number 1887) for 200 German marks.
